I spend a lot of time committing to supporting causes that I feel passionately about. I'm willing to offer my SEO services probono for some specific causes (with a few terms and conditions!) based on my availability and depending on what kind of support you need.
I am more selective about the causes I choose to support because I feel otherwise I will lack the passion or drive to actually carry out the work that is required. Of course, if your cause isn't listed below it doesn't mean I don't care about it - but there's obviously a limited amount of help I can provide, being a solo SEO/web consultant...
Below I've listed and described a few types of organisations/charities that I would love to support on a probono basis when it comes to their website, SEO and digital marketing needs (if any!)...
Anything in the postgrowth or degrowth space - organisations, people trying to work in a postgrowth way, which might mean you are looking to operate within our planetary boundaries and so you aren't focused entirely on growth (growth in terms of sales of products, revenue generated, and so on). A nice example of a postgrowth business might be a local "Library of Things" whereby people are encouraged to come and borrow items (tools for example) vs going out any buying them.
I'm currently actively volunteering for the
IDN (helping out with a variety of things, including some SEO support) - if you wanted an example of an organisation in this space.
Decolonisation is defined as the undoing of colonialism - whereby imperial nations have violently and ruthlessly dominated foreign territories. As a British citizen and having read a little of our dark history, you could say I feel a lot of guilt - and shame - and hence a desire to support any people and organisations that are working to raise awareness of decolonisation and to dismantle existing colonial structures. You don't have to look far to find examples of the impact of colonialism today by looking towards Gaza, and seeing what Israel are doing to millions of innocent Palestinians.
Related to the above - I'm willing to offer probono consultancy services for anyone looking to support and stand up for the rights of the innocent people of Palestine. Whether that includes other people working in an independent capacity, or those within charity organisations and NGO's, or even journalists that are trying to speak up on behalf of Palestine. I'm willing to support these people in any way that I can.
